About Outnumbered
Outnumbered Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Zachary Penan to help children stand up to and cope with bullying. Our work brings together school and community readings, articles for parents and educators, and conversations about kindness and inclusion.
What started as a children’s book became something bigger — an organization dedicated to helping kids stand up to bullying and creating communities where every child feels safe, valued, and supported.
Our Story
The children’s book Outnumbered follows eight-year-old Jack, a fictional child who faces bullying at a new school and finds support through friendship and speaking up. The story provides a starting point for adults and children to talk about asking for help and including others.
Our community updates describe readings at Little Friends in Greenwich and the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester. They show the settings where we have shared the story and its message.
What We Do

- Community outreach — Follow our published updates about readings and fundraising, including the May 2026 fundraiser for planned book donations to local preschools.
