School & Community Readings

Zachary Penan reads Outnumbered with young audiences in school and community settings. The story follows Jack, a fictional child who experiences bullying at a new school, and opens conversations about friendship, inclusion, and asking for help.

Our published updates describe readings with pre-k students at Little Friends in Greenwich and students at the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester. These visits give children an opportunity to hear the story and talk about its message with adults.

Discuss a possible visit

If you represent a school, library, or community organization, email us with your organization's name, town, approximate age group, and proposed dates. We can discuss whether a reading is a fit and confirm availability and arrangements before anything is scheduled.

Please keep initial inquiries about the group or event; do not include children's names or details of individual bullying incidents.

Educational reading can help start a conversation. Individual incidents still need attention from the child's parent or caregiver and the responsible school staff.
